Inaugural Golf Classic to Welcome Honorary Chair Jeremy Roenick at Mistwood Golf Club.

On Monday, September 25, 2017, The H Foundation will host their Inaugural Golf Classic at the award-winning, newly renovated Mistwood Golf Club in support of basic science cancer research. The event will feature Honorary Chairman Jeremy Roenick - former Chicago Blackhawks player and many other Chicago-based professional athletes and celebrities.
In addition, The H Foundation will present the Golf Classic Cure Cup in its inaugural year. The Cure Cup will be awarded to two (2) Golf Classic foursomes for their exceptional efforts at the Golf Classic. The Cure Cup will be displayed at Mistwood Golf Club following The H Foundation Golf Classic for one year. One side of the Cure Cup will recognize the Golf Classic foursome who exemplifies the mission of The H Foundation through exceptional fundraising efforts to support basic science cancer research and help find a cure for cancer. The other side will recognize the winners of the Golf Classic tournmament based upon overall team score.
“Though golf outings are common in the fundraising community, our goal was to make this event unique like we have done with our annual event, the Goombay Bash,” said executive director Cortney Frahm. “At the Goombay Bash, we take the layout of a fundraising gala and create a casual, Caribbean-themed ‘un-gala’ that focuses on the mission of The H Foundation through personal stories and celebration. We are doing the same thing here. From a unique golf course, to a celebrity golfing with every foursome, to being able to make a donation to support a team in the Cure Cup, anyone can participate in the event because together we are making a difference in the fight against cancer.”
The Golf Classic will begin at 11:00am with registration and lunch, and at 12:00pm there will be a shotgun start. Throughout the course, there will be various opportunities to meet celebrities, take a chance at a hole in one for a car, and much more. Even if you are not a golfer, please consider joining us for a dinner reception at 5:00pm.
“We are so appreciative of Jim McWethy and the entire staff at Mistwood Golf Club for hosting us on September 25th,” said H Foundation Board President, John Rot. “When we thought of hosting a golf outing, we made our list of what would set us apart from the rest. Our goals were to host the event at a course that provided a high standard of excellence, to create a one-of-a-kind experience for our participants, and to bring the Goombay spirit of ‘Cancer is Personal’ into the event.”
Sponsorships for the Golf Classic begin at $250. Golf only opportunities include $400 per person or $1,600 per foursome. Finally, the dinner reception only is $50. All golfers will receive 18 holes of golf, a golfer gift package, lunch, dinner reception, and an opportunity to golf with a celebrity guest.
