Meet Craig Cunningham, our Goombay Bash 2024 Honorary Chair!
We are honored to welcome Craig Cunningham, COO of the Autobahn Country Club, as our 22nd Annual Goombay Bash Honorary Chair.
The importance of having a closely-knit family was a value instilled in Craig’s life from the very beginning by his parents Bill and Carol Cunningham. Craig, his sister Dawn, and brother Todd were blessed with having very close relationships with their grandparents, and many aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family members. These family values continued into Craig’s own family. Craig and his wife of 35 years, Jackie, have 3 beautiful children: Connor, Kyle and Kaylee. Just like Craig’s upbringing, the family enjoys spending time together and with each other’s friends. It is truly a blessing and a family value that extends generations.
Craig’s sister Dawn, a suburban girl who absolutely loved the city of Chicago, moved to the city after graduating from SIU and established a successful career at WXRT radio station. She loved music, going to concerts, street festivals, Cubs games and was a great salesperson. Following her career at WXRT, Dawn made the decision to pursue a career in real-estate to spend more time with her children as they grew up.
Cancer became personal to Dawn in her mid-forties when she battled and beat Breast Cancer and then later in life was diagnosed with Glioblastoma. Dawn, her husband Rob, and their two children Charlie and Eva were brave and resilient during this short battle with a very aggressive cancer. The Cunningham Family lost Dawn on January 13th 2021 at the age of 57. She donated all her organs for research and would be proud that the Cunningham family is contributing to the mission of the H Foundation.
Craig’s involvement with The H Foundation began well before accepting the role of Honorary Chair of the Goombay Bash. The Autobahn Country Club, the leader and innovator of the motorsports club industry for 20 years, has graciously hosted The H Foundation’s Karting for Cancer event since 2021. As Chief Operating Officer of the Autobahn Country Club, Craig’s leadership role is focused on creating positive member experiences, developing business relationships, increasing shareholder value, and building the management team.

The H Foundation
Committed to Finding a Cure for Cancer
The H Foundation was created, as all great ideas are, over a cocktail called the Goombay Smash. It started out as a few friends with entrepreneurial spirits that decided they could make a difference in the fight against cancer. So, every summer The H Foundation hosts the Goombay Bash, a fundraising event under the disguise of a casual Caribbean-style party. Since 2001, The H Foundation has raised over $11 million donating nearly every dollar raised to the Robert H. Lurie Comprehensive Cancer Center of Northwestern University.
These funds are used as seed money for basic science cancer research projects to help them compete for additional government or private funding. As a result, our donations have been leveraged into over $250 million of research dollars towards finding a cure. The H Foundation is an independent 501(c)3 non-profit organization. 100% of our funding comes from donations by generous businesses, communities, families, individuals, and... from you.
